We Care Campaign
Why ‘We Care’:
A campaign to publicise why the ‘Placeshapers’ network believes in, and continues to support and fund services that would have otherwise been lost due to government funding cuts.

It started with a spoken word
‘We Care’ brings together housing associations from right across the UK, so first we talked to them to find out what ‘We Care’ meant to them and what type of services they deliver outside of their normal business. We gathered our brightest and best, we considered the possibilities and we hit the coffee.

It was poetry in motion
We kicked off with a launch at the National Housing Conference, presenting a powerful commissioned piece of poetry, ‘Knock, Knock’, written and performed by street poet, Hussain Manawer. This was followed by a user-generated film with clips submitted from over 50 members sharing what ‘We Care’ means to them. A member’s campaign pack and easy-to-access deliverables were created and distributed to housing associations, helping them focus activities in their communities. And on the start of ‘We Care Day’, housing associations employees pledged over 3,000 hours of their time volunteering in local communities.

It’s not just for Christmas
With ‘We Care’ thriving, festive extras were delivered to members, including Santa sacks for collecting food bank supplies and toys, and an advent calendar with a suggested tweet for each day to keep the message strong.
