Research by the Greater Manchester Housing Providers (GMHP) in conjunction with Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) uncovered the fact that millions of pounds of pension credit was going unclaimed by eligible pensioners living in Greater Manchester. To tackle this, we devised the Pension Credit Top Up campaign, designed to increase uptake of the benefit among GMHP residents. We created a convenient toolkit that was readily available to GMHP’s constituent housing associations, with each organisation deploying the campaign into their local communities. After just one year, over £3m of additional pension credit had been claimed.
